Day 01 IQUITOS - TAMBO AMAZONICO
Reception at the airport and transfer to Iquitos city. Along the way you will briefly sightsee Iquitos, looking at the most important tourist sites of this representative Peru's orient city founded in the XIX Century.
Transfer by land to the City of Nauta on the shores of the Maranon River where you will board the boat that will take you to the Tambo Amazonico Lodge. On the way you will be impressed at the sight of the Amazon River formation in the confluence of the Maranon with the Ucayali. Boxed lunch on route. Arrival in our Tambo Amazonico Lodge located on the Yarapa River (100 miles from Iquitos), one of the first tributaries of the Amazon River, in the so called "buffer zone" or the "gateway" to the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve. As soon as you are installed you will take a hike or canoe ride to explore the beauty of the place. The Tambo Amazonico Lodge is surrounded by exuberant vegetation and beautiful dark water oxbow lakes. Supper at the lodge. Overnight.
Day 02 TAMBO AMAZONICO
With the first light of the day you will head for a macaw lick near the lodge where these noisy multicolor birds gather early in the morning. Breakfast at the lodge.
Boat excursion on the Yarapa River to observe birds and primates that inhabit the area. Lunch at the lodge. Dug-out canoe ride to the Moringo oxbow lake to see the spectacular water lilac "Victoria Regia". It will also be possible to see interesting flora and fauna species found on the shores, such as the "hoatzin" or as it is locally known, "shansho", a bird with prehistoric resemblance that feeds on tree leaves that grow around the lakes.
Thrilling evening excursion by boat or canoe to do native-style fishing and to spot caimans. Supper at the lodge. Overnight.
Day 03 TAMBO AMAZÓNICO - SAN ISIDRO
Departure to San Isidro heading through the Maranon and continuing exploring the national reserve, on the way it is possible to spot the amazing pink dolphins. Lunch on the way. Install in an itinerant camp or a shelter in San Isidro.
Recognition of the area. Guide will provide more information about the places to visit. Night excursion by boat in search for caimans. Supper and overnight.
Day 04 SAN ISIDRO - YANAYACU-PUCATE
Excursion to a nearby lake where it is possible to observe a various species of birds and of fish, which is their basic food source. Spot different species that inhabit the area, such as: giant river otters, water turtles, monkeys and the fascinating pink dolphins. Lunch. Jungle trail hike to observe the fauna found in this place particularly diverse primate species. Dinner and overnight in camp.
Day 05 YANAYACU-PUCATE - IQUITOS
Sail on the Amazon and Maranon rivers to reach Nauta. Return to Iquitos by land.
Overnight at hotel of your choice.
Day 06 IQUITOS/LIMA
At appropriate time transfer to the airport to board the return flight to Lima.
