SPIRITUAL EXPLORATION IN MANU NATIONAL PARK
5 DAYS: CUSCO-MANU-CUSCO (Land transportation)


Our modern culture has almost lost the relationship with the nature and supernatural power. In the medicine chemistry has substitute the natural products and rituals recounted with it.
In the Amazonian region we can still find ethnic groups, which its life style is related with their ecosystem. They still healing by rituals practiced by a Shaman or spiritual guide.
In this trip we have the chance to experience this healing practices and rituals to encounter the nature and find physical and spiritual balance.
Elemental plants will be present in our program, which will be performed OUR PRIVATE Reserve of Erika Lodge. This program consists in a three days of rituals and one optional day for health, without any age limitations.
We provide special menu plan according to this kind of trip.

Day 01
We leave Cusco early in the morning in our specialized overland vehicles. Approximately mid-morning we visit the interesting tombs of Ninamarca, commonly known as "Chullpas". We continue to Paucartambo, a picturesque Spanish colonial town, and then to the Acjanacu pass, which marks the beginning of the Cultural Zone of Manu Biosphere Reserve. Here, a thick cloak of clouds provides perpetual humidity and makes an ideal habitat for epiphytic plants such as bromeliads. This varied and fascinating world is home of the Cock of the Rock, Spectacled Bear, Orchids, Tree Ferns (one of the oldest living plants), mosses and lichens. This cloud forest exists between 2000 and 3500 meters above sea level, and at least 50% of the plant species found here are endemic to this region. Overnight in our open air lodge "San Pedro".

Day 02
Today we wake up very early to observe the Cock of the Rock (Rupicola Peruviana), Peru's national bird. The male birds are a vibrant reddish orange, and at about 5:00AM as many as several dozen come together for an exhibition of a mating ritual dance in a place called Lek. The males display their crest, showing off and posturing for the females. The females, fewer in number, watch to select the most suitable males. After breakfast we continue in our overland transport down the narrow road between waterfalls and canyons Atalaya port. Here, we board our covered, outboard motor boat and head down the Alto Madre de Dios River for approximately 15 minutes toward our private reserve of "Erika" where we will meet our Shaman who is going to introduce us to the mother nature contacting our senses with the elements: water, air, earth and fire.

Day 03
During the morning we will have time to think about the information received from the Shaman, at midday we will begin the water ceremony, late at night with relaxing exercises, songs and dances the Shaman is going to prepare a Hallucinogenic drink called "Ayahuasca" which will be also offered to who is ready for this experience. During the "highs", he will see beautiful and colorful visions of long lost or deceased friends, strange animals and spirits spirits of the trees, etc. Under the influence, he divines the cause and cure for his associate's illnesses. Then he may chant or whistle as purifies them with rhythmic "Shacapa" fan, and as he blows organic tobacco smoke onto selected body points of the patient. He may use any of several medicinal herbs at this point, or prescribe them for later use, depending on the diagnosis and prognosis of the patient.

Day 04
During the morning we will make retrospection of the last days always with our Shaman, enjoy the jungle and rest.

Day 05
The Shaman will give us the last advises and recommendations. After breakfast we board our bus and ride back to Cusco.
