Amazon Cruises in Peru

The Amazon River begins a in the Andes mountains upriver from Iquitos, Peru, and like a giant snake, gracefully coils and uncoils its way through the jungle to the Atlantic Ocean. It enters the ocean at Belem, Brazil, tinting the sky-blue waters brown for 200 miles out. It is seven miles across at its widest and flows downriver for almost 4,000 miles.

Explore and experience new cultures, incredible wildlife and magical sceneries joining one of the several cruises we offer on this fabulous river and its tributaries.

Experience up close the cry of colorful tropical birds, the lush smell of the rainforest, countless flowers and towering trees. Thrill to the sight of pink dolphins playing alongside your boat. Marvel at the incredible frogs, iridescent butterflies of astounding colors, and captivating monkeys.

While offering many general interest tours, some of our cruises have special themes such as photography, reptiles & amphibians, birds, and insects & invertebrates.

The reflection of hundreds of snow-white Great Egrets flashes off of the black-glass lake. Large flights of ducks take wing amongst the egrets. Kingfishers skim along the shoreline in search of breakfast. In the distance, pairs of macaws call out with their distinctive "screech.

As small boat moves slowly along, troops of monkeys are seen swinging through the trees. Birds of all sizes and colors flit through the air. Colorful groups of butterflies hover near the undergrowth on shore.

Also of high importante is our cruise to Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, known as "The Mirror of the jungle". Its is the largest reserve in the country, encompassing 2,080,000 hectares (5,139,680 acres) between the Marañon and Ucayali rivers.

Within the reserve boundaries there is an incredible variety of habitats, from typical flooded wetlands to humid hillside forests growing over 2,000 ft above sea level. Here, huge Horned Screamers, and Plumbeous and Swallow-tailed Kites feed along the marsh, and troops of squirrel monkeys are a common sight.

Over 340 species of birds, ten species of primates, Manatee Black. Caiman and countless other animals have been identified in the reserve.

If your special interest is relaxing and getting away from all, there is no better place than the Amazon.
